I'm torn about how to rate this place. The oceanfront location and space of the unit is great considering the price. It's clear that housekeeping made a good effort to make sure the place was clean. The communication about check in and check out was clear and easy. The water pressure in the shower is outstanding. There's no denying, however, that our unit was run down. The main floor wasn't too bad, but the bedrooms definitely need help. Our mattress was lumpy, but was still better than the exceptionally soft one in the other room. There's lots of chipped paint throughout the unit. There's no excuse, though, for the dressers and nightstand missing drawers and having other drawers broken. It shouldn't be difficult to pick up gently used dressers on Facebook marketplace or at a second hand store, or even would be better to have no dressers at all. Leaving them as they currently are just makes the bedrooms look exceptionally run down and makes the guest question why they chose to stay there. We were there over a weekend and there was quite a bit of road noise, but that's not the fault of the accommodation.
We had an awesome time at FSOTG! Our unit #9 was nice and recently updated. Plenty of pots, pans, silverware, towels and bedding. We enjoyed the pool and our balconies- one on each floor! We look forward to returning!

Loved it!!! Beautiful!! A bit of a leak under the kitchen sink and only one trash bag, but everything else was fantastic!!! Rooms were amazing, balconies were perfect, perfect location, very family friendly. Excellent experience!!
My brother stayed here while I stayed across the street. He has a large family and usually needs 2 rooms, but not here. These rooms are huge and the management is amazing. It's the most comfortable we've ever been on vacation.

When coming to Gavelston, I will always choose this place if available. It's home away from home for me and is great for groups or even just for 2 people!
